We stayed in 3 Paradors and the package you were able to organise was ideal for our holiday. The quality of accommodation, service and food was excellent throughout, with each Parador having it’s own very individual character. In Spain and rural Portugal it seemed as though the tourism industry was taking every possible precaution. The hotels we stayed in seemed to have found a good balance between infection control and hospitality, and the Covid restrictions didn’t diminish the enjoyment of our stays. In fact it was an amazing time to visit places that would normally be crowded – and weren’t! In urban Spain we observed situations around bars where groups of young men weren’t socially distancing at all. There was only one tourist site where we found the Covid restrictions to be a problem – the Alcazar in Cordoba seems to have developed the world’s worst entry system. Online only, from a QR code by the entrance, which was clearly leaving even Spanish visitors needing help from the person on the gate. But there was no charge for entry!
