SEA & MOUNTAINS IN ASTURIAS
5TH - 12TH OCTOBER 2022: STAYING IN PARADORS AT RIBADEO & CANGAS DE ONIS
This is one of our most popular holidays, combining mountains and coast. It would be possible to extend the holiday to 9 nights by adding 2 nights at the Parador in Santiago, or to 14 nights by adding this to the ‘Escorted Galicia Tour‘ (28th September to 5th October). The 7 night holiday begins with a night at the Parador at Ribadeo, overlooking the Eo estuary which separates Galicia from Asturias, from where we shall continue to the Parador at Cangas de Onis in the foothills of the Picos de Europa mountains. The holiday will end at the lovely “Gran Hotel del Sella” on the coast at Ribadesella.

IF WANTING TO ADD 2 NIGHTS MONDAY 3RD OCTOBER: Fly to Santiago and check in to the Parador , beside the Cathedral, for a 2 night stay. This would include dinner on 4th October and a guided tour of the historic city on 4th October.
WEDNESDAY 5TH OCTOBER: Fly to Santiago and drive to RIBADEO. Welcome drink, dinner and night at the Parador.
THURSDAY 6TH OCTOBER: Drive to the famous Cathedral beach and continue to the city of Gijon for a lunch break before a spectacular drive across the mountains to the Parador at CANGAS DE ONIS in the beautifully restored Monastery of San Pedro de Villanueva. Dinner in the Parador.
FRIDAY 7TH OCTOBER: This will be a day in the Picos de Europa with a local guide with a visit to the basilica at Covadonga and the Lakes of Covadonga (weather permitting) and a stop in the town of Cangas de Onis. Dinner in the Parador.
SATURDAY 8TH OCTOBER: A relaxing day in the lovely surroundings of the Parador, or to visit the small town, which can be reached along a path alongside the River Sella. There will be a tapas supper in the Parador.
SUNDAY 9TH OCTOBER: Late morning drive to RIBADESELLA, for the final 3 nights beside the sea at “Gran Hotel del Sella”. The hotel overlooks the Santa Marina beach, has a large outdoor pool and a spa with an indoor pool so plenty of opportunities for swimmers and there are scenic walks on the headlands nearby. Dinner in the hotel.
MONDAY 10TH OCTOBER: There will be a walk into the town to locate all the places of interest after which the day and evening will be free to be able to sample the many bars and restaurants in the town. Dinner is not included.
TUESDAY 11TH OCTOBER: A free day to enjoy the facilities in the hotel, return to the town, walk on the headlands or simply relax. There will be a farewell drink and dinner in the hotel.
***If anyone wishes to visit the prehistoric cave of Tito Bustillo – one of the few prehistoric caves open to the public, this must be booked in advance as numbers are strictly limited***
WEDNESDAY 12TH OCTOBER: Late morning drive to Santander for the return flight to Dublin.
